Kia EV6 and Telluride Secure 2024 NEMPA Winter Vehicle Awards

The Kia EV6 and Telluride have once again proven their mettle in extreme conditions, earning top honors in the 2024 Winter Vehicle Awards from the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). For the third consecutive year, the EV6 clinched the title of Official Winter EV of the Year, while the Telluride was named Best Mid-Size SUV.
EV6: A Winter Champion for the Third Year
The all-electric Kia EV6 continues to set the standard for winter performance. NEMPA awarded it the prestigious Winter EV of the Year recognition, citing its exceptional engineering, dependability, and ability to handle New England’s harsh winter conditions. The organization, which includes journalists from various media outlets such as newspapers, TV, and online platforms, emphasized the EV6’s resilience.
Clifford Atiyeh, President of NEMPA, remarked, “The Kia EV6 handily won our NEMPA Official Winter EV of the Year for the third time. Its blend of unique style and performance, especially the GT, continues to impress. The accurate range estimates, along with a standard heat pump, make the available all-wheel drive EV6 a capable and trusted car throughout the winter season.”

Telluride: Still Leading the Pack
Kia’s Telluride SUV, which has been a favorite since its launch five years ago, took home the Best Mid-Size SUV title. NEMPA members praised the Telluride for its refined design and recent upgrades, including the X-Pro model, which offers all-terrain tires for enhanced capability. The SUV’s refreshed interior with new screens and its attractive exterior design were also highlighted as standout features.
“Atiyeh commented, “New Englanders have loved the Telluride since it came out five years ago, and the latest refresh makes Kia’s mid-size SUV even more appealing. The new screens, the X-Pro model with the all-terrain tires, and a very handsome exterior—the Telluride is Kia’s best model by far.”

Rigorous Testing to Ensure Excellence
Both vehicles were thoroughly tested by NEMPA members across New England, including in states like Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts. The awards are based on extensive, year-round evaluations in real-world conditions, with NEMPA members casting votes to decide the winners.
According to Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, “New England winters are the defining, real-world tests of vehicle durability, and the EV6 and Telluride each rise to the occasion as temperatures drop and overdeliver as pace-setters in their respective segments.”
These accolades further solidify Kia’s position as a leading automaker that delivers vehicles capable of excelling in even the most challenging environments.
